How to Donate Money

Bequests

The simplest and most flexible planned gift is a bequest, a clause under your will or trust document naming Central Virginia Food Bank as recipient of part or all of your estate.  It is important that you use the appropriate language in your will or other estate documents to assure that your wishes are carried out and the Food Bank receives the assets you intended. Examples include:

Examples:

I give [specific dollar amount or asset] to Central Virginia Food Bank, Inc. currently located at 1415 Rhoadmiller Street, Richmond, Virginia 23220, to be used for the unrestricted needs of the Food Bank.

I give [x percent] or [the remainder of my residuary estate] to Central Virginia Food Bank, Inc. currently located at 1415 Rhoadmiller Street, Richmond, Virginia 23220, to be used for the unrestricted needs of the Food Bank.

If my spouse does not survive me, I give [specific dollar amount or asset] or [x percent] or [the remainder of my residuary estate] to Central Virginia Food Bank, Inc. currently located at 1415 Rhoadmiller Street, Richmond, Virginia 23220, to be used for the unrestricted needs of the Food Bank.

If you prefer to designate your gift for a specific purpose, we would be happy to prepare the appropriate language for you to share with your attorney.
